Tour de Bleu 2017 raises over $3.66 million to transform care for women’s cancers

Move over, Tour de France!

On Sunday, August 13, Tour de Bleu – the private cycling fundraiser hosted by the Peter Gilgan Foundation and Mattamy Homes – took to the streets in support of Women’s College Hospital (WCH). When all was said and done, the event had raised an astounding $3.66 million to support a bold new national strategy to transform care for women’s cancers being developed at WCH, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Tour’s 50 riders pedaled for over 160 kilometres from Muskoka to the front doors of WCH, arriving at 2 p.m. as a united group – representing their commitment to working together as a community to support better healthcare for women.

The new initiative supported by Tour de Bleu will be housed at the newly established Peter Gilgan Centre for Women’s Cancers at WCH, which has a vision to give every women every chance to prevent and survive cancer.

This was the second year in a row that Tour de Bleu selected Women’s College Hospital as its charitable partner. Last year, the event raised $3 million to advance groundbreaking breast and ovarian cancer research at WCH and an additional $250,000 in support of the WCH Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care, a hub of health system innovation with a mission to improve healthcare for women and for all.

Please join us in extending our deepest gratitude to Peter Gilgan, Mattamy Homes and every rider, donor and sponsor of Tour de Bleu 2017!
