Ringing in 2020 as champions of change

Kicking off 2020, I am filled with gratitude as I reflect on the extraordinary impact that Women’s College Hospital’s growing donor community helped to create over the past year. And I am feeling particularly inspired as I think about what we’ll achieve together this year and in the years to come.

2019 saw Women’s College Hospital step forward as the world’s leader in healthcare access and equity with greater courage and conviction than ever before. We launched the first transition-related surgery program at a Canadian public hospital and have boldly taken our place at the epicentre of a global movement to revolutionize healthcare with a courageous new strategy to integrate virtual care into the mainstream health system. We continue to evolve the unique care we offer to marginalized groups such as refugees, victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, women struggling with addiction, mental illness, and so much more.

We are so proud and grateful that our donor community shares that courage and conviction. As you know, true health equity for women and for all is only possible when a community stands united behind a shared vision, and invests in the potential of that vision to ignite change.

In 2020, we look forward to continuing to champion health equity and virtual care, and advocate for the importance of a gender-based lens in research. We will continue to work with, and grow, our community of trailblazers and changemakers through the power of people, partnerships and philanthropy.

We also look forward to our annual community events. On March 3rd we will celebrate empowered women and showcase the global impact of Women’s College Hospital at our Women for Women’s luncheon, and in June, we will once again lace up to support women’s mental health at the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women, which begins and ends right here at Women’s College Hospital. We hope you will join us for these celebrations of our mission.

On behalf of those we care for, and the entire Women’s College Hospital community, thank you for your tireless commitment, determination and generosity. Together, we can revolutionize healthcare, change lives and build a healthier, more equitable world for everyone.
